When used, the Scanner app reveals a ton of important information about the cash you're looking at, including: the Dollar or Euro total of the group, what sort of state the cash is in, such as being Wet or Dirty, the type of cleaning the cash needs, the client's name, and progress on the active quest.

On some later main and side quests, you will be required to use the Scanner as part of the quest, but even if it isn't strictly needed, the Scanner is invaluable for ensuring your cash meets the client's wants, that you're sending them the right amount, and haven't missed any bills that are fake, marked, or in the wrong state.

Checking whether cash is counterfeit or marked by someone is pretty important, as unless the client specifically asks for it, this cash being present in a delivery will penalize you.

To prevent this, you'll need to check the cash with a UV Light, which makes any type of marks and the official stamps on real cash glow bright blue, but it needs a lack of light to work properly, or else the glow is nearly invisible.

If you need to check bills, either do it at night so you can easily see the glowing marks and stamps on bills, or use the large black cushion that's normally placed near one of the chemical tankards to skip the time to 10PM or later, when it's dark outside.
