According to news from this site on September 6, the Siemens Foundation stated that it will invest US$30 million (this site’s note: currently about 219 million yuan) over 10 years to develop the workforce, focusing on the rapidly growing field of electric vehicle charging. .

This program aims to train a diverse and An inclusive workforce to build, install and operate the infrastructure to support future electric vehicle needs.

The Siemens Foundation is partnering with the North Carolina Education Business Council and the Michigan Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP).

EVITP said it has trained and certified "thousands" of technicians in the United States and Canada to install and maintain electric vehicle supply equipment, primarily charging stations. Widespread damage to many public charging stations is a common complaint among EV owners.

It is reported that EVITP’s stakeholders include automakers such as General Motors and BMW, equipment manufacturers, and utility companies.

The program will emphasize training for individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities, Etzweiler said, providing a path to high-paying, long-term jobs in the electric vehicle charging industry.

He said carmakers would support the foundation to ensure "we have a network of charging stations across the country" to support accelerated production of electric vehicles.
