According to news on June 7, BYD launched two new pure electric bus models at the 2013 World Public Transport Summit (UITP) held in Barcelona. The new cars released this time include the articulated model BYD B19 and the stand-alone model BYD-Castrosua, providing more options for electric travel in the public transportation field.
The editor learned that the BYD B19 model has an astonishing total length of 18.75 meters and can carry up to 140 passengers. This car uses the latest lithium iron phosphate battery technology and a six-in-one controller, which has higher safety and stability. Its battery capacity reaches 563kWh and its cruising range can reach 470 kilometers. It can also be equipped with high-power fast charging equipment on the roof to facilitate long-term operation of the bus.
Another stand-alone model, BYD-Castrosua, is the first 12-meter pure electric bus launched by BYD and Spanish body manufacturer Castrosua. This bus adopts a stylish color-blocking design and has a body length of 12.2 meters. Castrosua, equipped with BYD's advanced three-electric technology, has a battery capacity of 422 kWh, just like BYD. The launch of this bus further enriches BYD's product line in the field of electric travel and meets the market's demand for buses of different specifications.
It is worth noting that BYD, as Europe’s first 100% zero-emission transportation solution provider, launched the world’s first pure electric bus as early as 2011 convoy. Up to now, BYD has operated more than 4,200 pure electric buses in more than 100 cities and more than 20 countries in Europe. The cumulative mileage exceeds 235 million kilometers. The BYD B19 and BYD-Castrosua buses launched this time will further promote the development of electric travel and make positive contributions to sustainable transportation in cities.
