According to news on May 24, the Internet Society of China’s WeChat public account published an article today to remind netizens to be wary of the latest “AI face-changing” scam.
The Telecommunications Network Crime Investigation Bureau of Baotou City Public Security Bureau recently revealed a case of telecommunications network fraud using intelligent AI technology. Criminals use AI technology to forge the voice of a specific person through voice synthesis technology, and use AI face-changing technology to disguise themselves as that person and conduct video calls with others in real time. They are able to use natural facial expressions and realistic disguises to impersonate others, deceive victims and build trust before committing fraud.
The Internet Society of China stated that in the face of this new type of scam using AI technology, the public needs to be more vigilant and take better precautions.
In response to the new "AI face-changing" scam, the Internet Society of China put forward the following two prevention suggestions:
First, personal information security should become the primary responsibility of the individual.
First of all, individuals should strengthen their awareness of the protection of personal information to avoid information leakage. Do not easily provide your face, fingerprints and other personal biometric information to others; do not disclose sensitive information such as ID cards, bank cards, verification codes, etc.; do not store ID cards, bank card photos, etc. directly on your mobile phone.
Do not click on unknown links, download unfamiliar software, add strangers or scan unknown QR codes. Properly manage your circle of friends and avoid sharing your phone screen with strangers.
In addition, install security software to ensure that your phone and computer are protected from viruses. Be vigilant about the security of your personal accounts, especially when logging in from unfamiliar devices, to prevent WeChat, QQ and other accounts from being stolen and causing trouble to relatives and friends. For infrequently used applications, it is recommended to log out of your personal account before uninstalling them.
Second, be sure to perform multiple verifications when making remote transfers to protect the security of your funds.
According to the editor's understanding, if someone claims to be a "family member", "friend", "teacher" or "leader" and contacts you through social software, text messages, emails, etc., claiming that an urgent transfer of funds is needed, For example, if your phone falls into the water and you need help paying tuition for a tutoring class, or you need help buying air tickets when traveling overseas, you must be vigilant!
In the AI era, text, sound, images and videos may all be deeply synthesized. In typical scenarios involving transfers, remittances and capital exchanges, be sure to verify and confirm through other communication methods such as calling back the other party's mobile phone number. Do not make direct transfers and remittances without verification based solely on communication through a single channel. No matter who the other party claims to be, stay alert.
If you encounter fraudulent information, please report it to the dedicated reporting platform 12321.cn in time. If a loss of funds occurs, please call the police immediately.
