What should I do if the content of the PHP table is garbled?

With the rapid development of the Internet, PHP, as a classic web development language, has been widely used in network applications. However, when using PHP to create tables, sometimes the data content is garbled, which not only affects the aesthetics of the website, but also affects the user's comfort. So, how to solve the problem of garbled content in PHP tables?

1. Check the encoding settings

First, we need to check the encoding settings. When using PHP to output data to an HTML page, make sure that the page encoding is consistent with the output encoding, otherwise the data in the page may be garbled.

For example, if the HTML page uses UTF-8 encoding, then the server-side PHP program should also use UTF-8 encoding:

header('Content-type:text/html;charset=utf -8');

2. Use a text editor to save the file

Secondly, when we use the Windows operating system, we will find that some text editors use GBK encoding to save files by default. This Problems with garbled data content may also occur. Therefore, we recommend using a text editor to save the PHP file in UTF-8 encoded format to ensure normal data output.

3. Set the database encoding

If your PHP application uses a database, please ensure that the encoding of the database is consistent with the PHP program to avoid garbled characters.

For example, when using a MySQL database, the database encoding should be set to UTF-8:

$conn = mysqli_connect('localhost', 'user', 'password', 'db_name');
mysqli_set_charset($conn, 'utf8');

4. Character escaping and filtering

Before outputting data to the HTML page, PHP will escape all characters. Avoid special characters that break the structure of your HTML page. In the process of escaping characters, some characters require additional filtering, such as quotation marks and backslashes. We can use PHP's built-in functions to filter and escape to ensure that the data is output normally.

The htmlspecialchars() function can escape HTML special characters to prevent them from being incorrectly interpreted as HTML tags:

echo htmlspecialchars($content, ENT_QUOTES, 'UTF-8');

5. Use icon fonts

Finally, for the display of certain special symbols, we can use font icons. A font icon is a collection of glyphs that can be called via letters or CSS classes without using complex technologies such as images or SVG.

You only need to reference the font file and CSS style sheet in the HTML page:

The above are several methods to solve the garbled content of PHP tables. You can choose the method that suits you according to your needs. In actual development applications, we should pay attention to the following points:

1. Choose an appropriate encoding format to ensure encoding consistency.

2. Save the PHP file using a suitable text editor.

3. Set the database encoding format.

4. Character escape and filter the data.

5. Use font icons to replace the display of some special characters.

Through the above methods, we can effectively solve the problem of garbled content in PHP tables, thereby providing users with a better user experience.
