In the previous article, we learned about the method of converting strings and quoted-printable characters to each other. If you need it, please read "Converting strings and quoted-printable characters to each other in php". This time we will introduce to you the method of setting regional information. You can refer to it if necessary.

In php, we can set the region information for the current script. It suddenly feels so magical. If you want to know how to set it up, just read this article with the editor.

Let’s first look at a small chestnut.

<?php
echo setlocale(LC_ALL,"US");
echo "<br>";
echo setlocale(LC_ALL,NULL);
?>

The result of this is

Teach you a trick to set php region information

If we look at this result alone, do we think that this result is inexplicable and we have no idea what it is doing, but we compare it with the code Take a closer look. Doesn’t this English_United States correspond to this us? After looking at it like this, I really want to know, but I feel like I am in a fog. Don't worry, let's keep reading.

setlocale() function sets regional information (regional information). Regional information is language, currency, time, and other information for a geographic area.

Let’s take a look at the syntax of this function.

setlocale(constant,location)

We must talk about this parameter carefully. Let’s look at constant first.

constant specifies what region information should be set.

The constants available for this parameter are:

  • LC_ALL - includes all options below

  • LC_COLLATE - sort order

  • LC_CTYPE - Character type and conversion (such as all characters uppercase or lowercase)

  • LC_MESSAGES - System message format

  • LC_MONETARY - currency format

  • LC_NUMERIC - number format

  • ##LC_TIME - date and time format

Let’s introduce another parameter,

location. It seems that this word means setting the region, but let's see if it is.

location specifies the country/region to which the regional information is to be set. It can be a string or an array. Multiple locations can be passed. If the positional parameter is null or the empty string "", the positional name will be set to the value of the environment variable with the same name in the above constant, or set according to "

Lang". If the position parameter is "0", the position settings are not affected and only the current settings are returned.

If the location parameter is an array,

setlocale() will try each array element until a valid language or locale code is found. This is useful if a zone has different names on different systems.

We need to remember: this function returns the current locale, or FALSE if it fails. The return value depends on the system on which PHP is running.

The most important thing is:

setlocale()The function only changes the regional information for the current script. You can set the region information to the system default through setlocale(LC_ALL,NULL).
