With Four USB-C Ports, I Can Charge All My Devices at Once
I have a lot of USB-C devices. From my iPhone to an iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, MX Master 3, heck, even my Sony A7iii camera uses USB-C. So, having enough USB-C ports at my desk to power everything is always a struggle. At least until this charger came along.
While four USB-C ports might now charge everything I have at the same time, I rarely need to power more than four USB-C devices at once. And, if I do, I have other charges I can employ during those very few-and-far-between times. But the fact that I can charge four USB-C devices at once with this Anker power brick is fantastic.
200W of Power Lets Me Fast Charge My MacBook Pro and iPhone at the Same Time
I already have a few dual-port USB-C chargers, but they're all lower wattage (like 45W or less per port, or even combined on some.) This is fine for charging my iPad and iPhone, but when it comes to plugging in power-sucking devices like a MacBook Pro, it just isn't always up to the task.
The fact that not only does this charge output up to 200W at one time, but it can output 100W to a single device is amazing. This allows me to fast charge my 14-inch MacBook Pro (which tops out at 96W) while also delivering plenty of power to my other connected devices.
In fact, if you're using just two USB-C ports, both can deliver 100W simultaneously. If you employ the two USB-A ports alongside two of the USB-C ports, you'll get 100W from one C port, 70W from another, and then 12W each from the A ports.
If three or four USB-C ports are all in use at one time, then the charger will deliver 65W to two devices, 45W to one device, and 25W to the final device. All of this combined means that, even when you have four ports used at one time, you'll still be able to charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro with relative ease effectively.
The Two USB-A Ports Are Unnecessary but Nice to Have
I don't plan to use the USB-A ports all that often. I don't have many devices that aren't natively USB-C, as it is. However, I do plan to leave a micro USB cable as well as a USB-A to USB-C cable on the charger at any given time.
This will let me charge up my old Kindle Voyage when necessary, and the A to C cable will be great for things like my Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, as 12W is more than enough to charge it.
So, while I wish Anker would have just made the USB-A ports into USB-C, they'll still get some use occasionally in my setup.
Should You Buy the Anker Prime 6-In-1 200W USB-C Charger?
For $70, the Anker Prime 6-in-1 200W USB-C Charger is a fantastic deal and a great product. I'll be recommending anyone I know who needs lots of USB-C power to pick up this charger.
While I do wish Anker would have swapped the two USB-A ports for a pair of USB-C, that's a small gripe given everything else this charger can do. Given that it can power two MacBook Pros at 100W each simultaneously or give each laptop 65W while delivering 45W to a third device and 25W to a fourth.
At the end of the day, this 6-in-1 Anker charger is something I think every techy should own. It's a fantastic charger at a good price with decent build quality. What more could you ask for?
