Xpeng Motors and Volkswagen sign strategic cooperation agreement on EEA electronic and electrical architecture technology
Today, Xpeng Motors and Volkswagen Group reached a new cooperation milestone today and formally signed an EEA electronic and electrical architecture technology strategic cooperation framework agreement. This move heralds the close cooperation between the two major automobile manufacturing giants in the field of electric vehicle technology to jointly promote the innovation and development of electronic and electrical architecture.
According to the agreement, Xpeng Motors will cooperate in depth with Volkswagen Group to create a leading EEA electronic and electrical architecture for Volkswagen’s electric vehicle platform in China. The architecture is expected to be widely used in Volkswagen brand electric models produced in China starting in 2026. EEA is the abbreviation of Electronic and Electrical Architecture, which is the core of the electronic and electrical system of electric vehicles. It integrates the important cornerstones of electrification and intelligence of automotive electronics and provides a full range of electronic and electrical solutions for modern electric vehicles.
According to the editor’s understanding, this cooperation is not the first time that Xiaopeng and Volkswagen have joined forces. Earlier this year, the two parties signed a strategic technology cooperation and joint development agreement and formulated a joint procurement plan. This series of actions not only accelerated the joint research and development process of dual B-class pure electric vehicles, but also laid a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation between the two parties. Volkswagen has previously acquired 4.99% of Xpeng Motors' shares, further consolidating the cooperative relationship between the two parties.
