Microsoft invites Windows Insiders to try out Windows 11 Notepad's new spell check feature
Microsoft recently issued an announcement, officially inviting members of the Canary and Dev channels in the Windows Insider project to be the first to experience the new feature of the Windows 11 Notepad application - "Spell Check". Previously, this feature was exposed in advance by @PhantomOfEarth on social media.
According to Microsoft, the updated Notepad application version number is 11.2402.18.0. The new spell check function will help users more conveniently use Notepad. Find and correct spelling errors. When the system detects a suspected misspelled word, it will automatically highlight it and provide modification suggestions. The user only needs to tap the wrong word or use Shift F10 shortcut key to view and select appropriate spelling suggestions.
Microsoft further explained in the press release that the spell check feature is enabled by default in some file types, but is turned off by default for log files and other programming-related file types. Users can set it up in the Notes app based on their needs, choosing to enable spell checking for all documents or only for files in specific formats. In addition, users can temporarily enable the spell check function through the right-click menu.
Currently, Microsoft has only invited some Windows Insider members in the Canary and Dev channels to participate in testing the latest version of Notepad and spell check functions. Therefore, not all users in these two channels will be able to experience these new features immediately. Microsoft explained that this approach is to ensure functional stability and user experience. Based on the test results, Microsoft plans to gradually expand the scope of the test to allow more users to participate in experiencing the new features.
It is understood that this update is an initiative taken by Microsoft to improve the user experience of Windows 11 system. In the future, Microsoft will continue to listen to user feedback and needs and continuously optimize system functions to enhance user experience.
