According to news on October 19, European automotive giant Stellantis announced that it will cancel its participation in next year’s CES (International Consumer Electronics Show). The decision is part of an emergency plan to deal with the growing losses caused by the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike.
Stellantis stated in an official press release that the strike had a huge financial impact on the company, and therefore withdrawing from the CES show is to protect the company's financial condition. The company said it is taking comprehensive measures to mitigate the financial losses caused by the strike and will use other avenues to showcase its progress in mobile technology. In addition, Stellantis emphasized that the current leadership's top priority is to ensure that the company's business fundamentals are maintained to safeguard future development.
Previously, due to the impact of the UAW strike, Stellantis and Ford had announced that they would temporarily lay off 1,250 employees. On Friday, Stellantis also announced the layoff of 700 employees at two Indiana plants, and later said it currently has 1,340 employees temporarily laid off in three states due to the four-week strike.
Earlier this year, Stellantis participated in the 2023 CES show and showed off the Ram 1500 Products such as Revolution concept pickup truck and Peugeot Inception concept car. The Ram 1500 Revolution is still in concept form and is based on the STLA Built on the frame platform, the maximum battery capacity reaches 200kWh and the maximum cruising range is 805 kilometers.
