Building trust is paramount for successful AI adoption in business. This is especially true given the human element within business processes. Employees, like anyone else, harbor concerns about AI and its implementation.
Deloitte researchers are scientifically investigating the impact of trust on business AI. Ashley Reichheld, in an April "Imagination in Action" presentation, highlighted a study involving 300 brands and thousands of workers. This research revealed that, in some AI deployments, trust decreased by as much as 149%. Conversely, employees trusting AI tools were 2.5 times more likely to adopt them—a figure doubled for consumers. Reichheld acknowledged the intangible nature of "trust."
To address this, she outlined four key pillars for measuring AI trust: humanity, transparency, reliability, and capability. Reliability and capability are considered foundational, while humanity (demonstrating empathy and highlighting user benefits) and transparency (ensuring basic understanding of the technology) are equally crucial.
Reichheld illustrated how misunderstandings about AI can lead to perceptions of system failure. For example, variations in ChatGPT's responses over time might be misinterpreted as malfunctions.
A Deloitte project identified two key adoption bottlenecks: concerns about data protection and privacy (transparency) and a lack of understanding regarding practical applications (reliability). Addressing these through initiatives like "prompt-a-thons," secure data download methods, and open Q&A sessions resulted in a 65% increase in daily usage and significant growth in new and returning users.
The key takeaway: proactive trust-building is essential. Instead of mandating AI adoption, businesses should prioritize integrating AI with a focus on humanity, transparency, and reliability from the outset. This includes comprehensive staff training and a thoughtful integration of AI into the company culture. Ignoring employee concerns can hinder successful AI implementation. The right approach—clear explanations, proper training, and appropriate incentives—can significantly impact productivity. Prioritizing trust from the initial design phase is crucial for successful AI integration in any business workflow.

The growing discussion of general intelligence (AGI) in artificial intelligence has prompted many to think about what happens when artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence. Whether this moment is close or far away depends on who you ask, but I don’t think it’s the most important milestone we should focus on. Which earlier AI milestones will affect everyone? What milestones have been achieved? Here are three things I think have happened. mPDF
mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
