You've started a new game in Atomfall. You've emerged from the bunker, and all of the Quarantine Zone lies ahead of you. All you have to go on are two clues; find the Interchange, and Oberon must die. Everything from here on out is up to you.

Atomfall: What To Do First

So what should you do? While there's no correct order to explore in Atomfall, some sequences make the game much easier than others. If you find yourself at a loss for how to begin your adventure, try these recommended first steps while you get your bearings in the Zone.

Talk To Nat Buckshaw

Atomfall: What To Do First

Nat lives in a ruined cottage just down the road to the left of the phone box where you got the mysterious call about Oberon. He's not hostile, and he has some basic information about the area. Talk to him to get your bearings, then loot the ruins across the street from his house to get some starting gear.

Get The Metal Detector

Atomfall: What To Do First

Before heading north to follow up on Nat's leads, go back to the phone box and take the right-hand path. This will take you to the Slate Mine Caves, where Reg Stansfield lives.

Check the crashed helicopter for an important note as well, and look behind the waterfall for some supplies.

Barter the looted weapons from defeated Outlaws to get the Metal Detector, which you can use to find hidden supplies throughout the game. Getting it right away means you won't miss any caches that you pass.

There's also another Bunker to explore on the bridge by the helicopter crash site; it has dangerous Ferals inside, so only go once you have a gun and some ammo, but looting the Bunker is a good way to get supplies and Training Stimulants.

Talk To Molly

Atomfall: What To Do First

Return to Nat's house and follow the road north. Turn east near the edge of the map to avoid the Outlaw camp (or sneak through it if you're feeling brave) to find Molly Jowett's trading camp at the place Nat marked for you.

Molly usually has good things to offer, and will throw in extra information the first time you make a trade with her. We recommend buying the Concrete Bunker Key the first time you visit her, as this unlocks the Sewer Tunnels entrance west of her camp. You can use the tunnels to quickly move between Slatten Dale, Wyndham Village, and Casterfell Woods.

Molly also has an Atom Battery and, occasionally, Skill Manuals for sale. She values Molotov Cocktails and Painkillers highly, so if you find any consider saving them to barter with her. The Atom Battery will be important later, so buy it when you can then store it in the Pneumatic Tube at any Bunker so that it doesn't take up space in your inventory.

Explore Wyndham Village

Atomfall: What To Do First

The entrance to Wyndham Village is just northeast of Molly's camp, and it's not as dangerous as it sounds. While the village is occupied by authoritarian Protocol soldiers, they give newcomers the benefit of the doubt, so they won't attack you unless you start a fight or enter a restricted area.

There's a lot to do in Wyndham, so be sure to visit the following locations:

  • The Village Hall, where you can introduce yourself to Captain Sims and ingratiate yourself to the Protocol, if decide to go that route.
  • The Hardware Store, where you can trade for another Atomic Battery and more Skill Manuals.
  • The Grendel's Head Pub, where Nat's brother Alf can give you information and quests to help the people of Wyndham.
  • St. Katharine's Church, where Vicar McHenry needs help investigating a murder.

From here on out, you'll have plenty of leads to follow and areas to explore. Be sure to return to places you've previously visited often, especially to check for new stock at trader shops. Notes related to NPCs can also open up new dialogue options that progress the story and uncover secrets. Good luck!

mPDF

mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
