Avowed's Living Lands are rife with sorrow and loss. This guide details a poignant, albeit unofficial, side quest focused on helping a grieving Thirdbornian find peace. While lacking traditional quest markers and rewards, it offers a touching narrative and a chance to connect with the game's world.

Accepting the Task

This isn't a formally logged quest; it's a spontaneous act of kindness. You'll encounter a distraught woman near Shatterscarp, west of Thirdborn and northwest of the Thirdborn Oasis. This area, the Ancient Lakebed, is also home to the "That Which Remains" side quest.

Locate the Mourning Thirdbornian under the cliff at the eastern edge of the Ancient Lakebed. She'll share her heartbreaking story of her deceased brother and her desperate wish to mourn him undisturbed. Unfortunately, hostile creatures prevent her from doing so.

Locating the Gravesite

Without a quest marker, your party members offer clues. One companion (in our case, Kai) mentioned a cairn across the lakebed. Head south from the woman, up a small hill, past a patch of brown, seaweed-like vegetation. You'll find the cairn guarded by two Dreamthrall Swarmers.

Defeat the Dreamthrall and place the flowers the sister gave you on the cairn. The Mourning Thirdbornian will appear, offer a prayer, and express her gratitude. Even though the area remains dangerous, she'll remain for a time, hoping to tend to her brother's grave. With 3 or more Intelligence points, you can persuade her to leave for her own safety, though she'll still linger briefly.

Rewards

The true reward is the emotional impact of helping a grieving soul. Beyond that, you'll gain 34 XP for defeating the Dreamthrall.
