How to parry in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

To parry in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you need to have almost perfect timing and match the rhythm of your enemy's attacks. If an enemy is attacking using a combo then you must parry all parts of the combo to pull it off successfully and get a strong counter as a reward.

Parrying is essentially blocking an enemy's attack and then sending it back to them with fury, but you need to do this really precisely or you'll be flattened with the incoming attack. You'll also gain 1 AP if you successfully parry an attack. It's also worth learning an enemy's attack rhythm first before attempting to parry an attack - this way you can know what you're up against and be ready.

To parry, learn the rhythm and wait until the attack is just about to hit your character before pressing your assigned parry command (R1 on PS5). Parrying shares the same timing as Perfect Dodge, but it's significantly harder to do - so we recommend using Dodge and Perfect Dodge to learn more about your enemy before attempting this.

Different enemy attacks will require different timings when it comes to dodging out of the way, but for all attacks dodging at the last minute will trigger a perfect dodge. Perfect dodge is connected to some Pictos and Lumina Abilities, so it's worth mastering these early on.
