Apple News adds a recipe feature: Apple News Food
Your iPhone already does a lot, but did you know it could suggest recipes? Apple News is introducing a new feature you might not have realized you needed: Apple News Food. This feature lets your phone decide what's for dinner.
Launching in April with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, Apple News Food will be available to subscribers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. Users can search, save, and cook recipes directly within the Apple News app. Unlike standalone recipe apps, it exclusively uses content from existing News partners. At launch, over 30 publishers, including Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and Epicurious, will provide tens of thousands of recipes.
A dedicated "Food" section in the Apple News app's Today feed will feature a daily recipe, curated collections, and access to the full recipe catalog and saved recipes. Non-subscribers will see a selection of recipes and food stories, a tempting preview of the full subscription.
Search functionality lets you filter recipes by category (dinner, easy, vegetarian, etc.). Recipes are presented cleanly and ad-free, including ingredients, instructions, cooking time, servings, and handy features like ingredient quantity checks and automatic timer creation. A "cooking mode" provides a full-screen, large-text display that stays active.
This feature arrives with your next iOS update, but a News subscription is required for full access.
