Pokemon Go Community Days are some of the best events that take place in the game, one of the longest running in-game events, occurring on a monthly basis. Other than just the featured Pokemon, there are bonuses, new moves, quests, and more, so there can be a lot to make note of.

Pokemon Go: Community Day Guide

We've compiled all the details you need for the upcoming Community Day (CD) to give you an overview of everything to expect and how to prepare. Additionally, with there being at least one Community Day Event each month, we will be updating this guide regularly to make sure you're prepared for each event.

Updated on November 7, 2024, by Christian Pellegrino: It's time for November's Community Day Event! This Community Day event will be featuring Mankey, the Fighting-type Pokemon introduced in the franchise's first generation. We have put together a complete guide for this month's Community Day, including all the information that is needed to make the most of it.

Next Pokemon Go Community Day: Mankey

Pokemon Go: Community Day Guide

Date: Sunday, November 10, 2024

  • Time: 2pm to 5pm local time

This Pokemon Go Community Day event will be featuring Mankey, in addition to several other bonuses. The most notable of these bonuses will be the massively increased chances of encountering Shiny Mankey during the three hours of this event.

Mankey has two further evolutions: Primeape and Annihilape, respectively. It will require 50 Mankey Candy to evolve Mankey into Primeape, then another 100 Mankey Candy to evolve Primeape into Annihilape, its final evolution.

Additionally, to evolve Primeape into Annihilape, you will need to complete an additional requirement while Primeape is your Buddy Pokemon. Typically, you need to defeat Ghost and Psychic-type Pokemon to unlock this evolution, but during the hours of this Community Day, this evolution will be unlocked by catching 20 Fighting-type Pokemon with Primeape as your Buddy, a much easier requirement.

Read on for all the info you need about November Community Day!

With the Mankey Candy required to perform these evolutions, make sure to take advantage of the increased spawn rate of this Community Day Pokemon.

This will ensure you have enough Mankey Candy to perform multiple of these evolutions.

Featured Attack

For this Pokemon Go Community Day event, Mankey will not possess the Featured Attack when caught; instead, you will have to do more to acquire this unique move. To unlock this event's featured attack, you will have to evolve Primeape, Mankey's evolution, into Annihilape during the event or up to five hours afterward.

Doing so will provide you with an Annihilape that knows the Ghost-type Charged Attack Rage Fist. Pokemon Go in-game stats for this attack are provided below.

Bonuses

Community Days always feature special bonuses, and this month's will be no different. From 2pm to 5pm local time on the day of this event, these bonuses will be in effect:

  • Double the Candy from catching Pokemon.
  • Triple the XP from catching Pokemon.
  • Double the chance of obtaining Candy XL from catching Pokemon.
  • Activated Incense during the event will last for three hours.
  • Lure Modules will also last for three hours.
  • One additional Special Trade can be made.
  • Trades will require 50 percent less Stardust.
  • Taking Snapshots during this event will provide you with a Community Day surprise.

The two event bonuses having to do with trading Pokemon will be available for up to five hours after the Community Day event.

This means that you can take advantage of them from 2pm to 10pm local time on this day.

Bonus Raid Battles

Following the main Community Day Event, there will be Bonus Raid Battles taking place from 5pm to 10pm local time. During this window, Primeape will be appearing in Four-Star Raids across the globe; only able to be joined locally, disabling the use of Remote Raid Passes.

Following the successful completion of one of these Raids, Mankey will begin appearing in a 300-meter radius around the Gym that the Raid took place in, lasting for 30 minutes. Mankey that appear from this bonus will possess the same increased Shiny rates as those encountered during the main Community Day Event.

Community Day Research

Here's what we know about the research quests that will be available:

Field Research

There will be event Field Research Tasks available for visiting PokeStops during this Community Day Event. Complete these tasks by catching different Mankey, rewarding you with encounters with Mankey, Stardust, or Great Balls.

Special Research

In the days leading up to this Community Day Event, you can purchase a ticket from the in-game shop that grants you access to a Special Research Story quest line, Mankey Community Day - Exclusive Special Research Story.

It will cost $1 or the equivalent in your local currency. Typically, for Community Day Special Research stories, you can catch the evolved stages of the featured Pokemon, and the ones who are able to will know the featured special move.

You do not need to complete this Special Research before the end of the Community Day event — it's permanently available.

It is, of course, only available to those who purchase a ticket.

Pokemon Showcases

There will be Community Day-themed Pokemon Showcases appearing at different PokeStops during this event. Make sure to place Pokemon, most likely Mankey or its evolutions, in these Showcases for a chance to earn different in-game items.

How To Prepare For Community Day

Pokemon Go: Community Day Guide

There is no shortage of free stuff given out on Community Day events, from the supplies granted by easy Field Research tasks, the rewards for research quest lines, the Shop Boxes, and more.

However, it's usually still a good idea to prep in advance for the upcoming Community Day, especially if the featured Pokemon (or its evolutions) is competitively viable, or it's something you really want.

  • Of course, stock up on Poke Balls and Berries.
  • Other things that can come in handy but aren't as vital are Incense, Lure Modules, Star Pieces, and Lucky Eggs (especially when the event bonus is extra Stardust and XP).
  • If you're going out for Community Day and doing a bit of walking, you'll definitely want to save your Incubators or buy some more to get some Eggs hatched.

Additionally, you'll want to make sure you have some Pokemon box storage available. If your storage is full or close to it, it'll be rather tedious to transfer Pokemon throughout the day, so it's best to prepare in advance by making some room.

If your current Buddy is a Pokemon that you need Candies for, it could be wise to give them a Poffin to make them excited and reduce the walking distance needed for each Candy by half.

As for preparations in the real world, you'll want to make sure you have anything you need for either a day out of the house or setting some time aside to play from home.

  • If you're going out, make sure you dress for the weather and wear shoes and clothing that are comfortable to walk in for some time.
  • If you require any type of mobility assistance, be sure it's accessible or available.
  • Bring water whenever possible.
  • If it's sunny where you are, make sure to bring sunscreen and other sun protection.
  • Charge any portable batteries you might need (and your phone or device) in advance.

You may want to plot a route in advance, especially if you want to maximize how many Pokemon you can catch (and whatever else you'd like to get done). If you know where good spawn areas are or the location of gyms that you like to raid, be sure to plan in advance where you want to go.

Check online for a local Discord server, WhatsApp group, Facebook group, or any other type of social group for your community if you want to meet new people or join a raid group.
