According to Korean media ZDNet Korea, BOE has successfully emerged as the main screen supplier for Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4. Samsung Display, which had been highly optimistic before, decided to withdraw from negotiations due to differences in price.
The editor learned that the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be launched in 2025, and the screen size will use the same 6.1-inch OLED display as the standard version of the iPhone 13 and 14. According to market forecasts, shipments of this new model may be as high as 15 million units.
In this competition for screen supply, BOE, Samsung Display and Tianma have become the main competitors. However, according to ZDNet Korea reported that Samsung Display chose to give up in the middle of this month because it could not accept the price proposed by Apple. Apple's price for this screen is only $25, far lower than the $30 Samsung Display originally expected. Although this price is lower than the other two Chinese manufacturers, there is still a gap with Apple's expectations.
According to people familiar with the matter, Samsung Display has not been interested in supplying iPhone SE 4 screens, mainly because of differences in price between the two parties. At the same time, Apple has been trying to reduce its reliance on Samsung displays. On the other hand, although competitor Tianma has shown strong willingness to join the supply chain of iPhone SE 4, its product quality has not yet met Apple's strict requirements.
In this case, BOE successfully won Apple’s recognition and became the main supplier of iPhone SE 4 screens with its excellent performance products and reasonable prices. This further proves BOE’s strength in OLED screen technology.
