News from this site on March 22, according to the latest report released by market research agency IDC, global PC monitor shipments in the fourth quarter of 2023 were 31.9 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%, slightly higher than IDC’s previous forecast of 3.2 %.
In the fourth quarter, all major market segments experienced growth, with the consumer market growing faster than the commercial market. Growth is not coming from the low-end market, but from the mainstream and high-end price segments. PC monitor shipments fell 17.4% in the first half of 2023, pushing full-year 2023 shipments down 8.6%.
IDC says gaming monitors will account for nearly 16% of total monitor shipments in 2023. Declining gaming PC shipments have freed up more budgets, while fierce competition in the entry-to-mid-range monitor segment has further driven down prices.
#IDC pointed out in the report that the domestic PC monitor market is "relatively large", with fierce competition, and prices continue to drop, with shipments declining slightly year-on-year.
IDC expects PC monitor shipments to return to healthy levels by 2025, driven in part by new models with faster refresh rates, falling prices for larger-screen models and continued growth in the gaming market, as well as enterprise trends toward Migration of Windows 11 PCs, increased office occupancy, and more.
