According to news from this site on March 13, the British media The Register asked Intel what requirements an AI PC needs to meet, and received a response from Robert Hallock, Intel’s senior director of technology marketing.
Hallock said that AI PCs need to be equipped with GPUs and NPUs that can process VNNI (vector neural network instructions) and DP4a instructions. Intel Core Ultra processor "Meteor Lake" meets the requirements.
From a performance and energy perspective, falling back to running AI on the CPU is very inefficient, so the AI PC must be equipped with an NPU.
According to reports, it is different from Intel’s previously proposed Centrino (note on this site: used for WiFi-enabled netbooks), Viiv (for home entertainment platforms) and other concepts, Intel believes that AI PC will be the standard form of personal computers in 5 years, and therefore will not market it as a special brand or specification.

Hallock believes that in the future, AI will revolutionize the PC experience just like today's GPUs. Currently, NPUs can be used to detect memory tampering attacks and will become a powerful commercial assistant.
