困扰 IT 管理员数月,微软修复 Windows 备份应用自动安装问题

Microsoft releases monthly security updates for the Windows operating system, known as Patch Tuesday updates. However, these updates sometimes lead to problems or vulnerabilities that are not documented in a timely manner.

Last September’s Patch Tuesday update (KB5030211) initially had no known issues, but some were later added. Additionally, there is an undocumented issue that may not be a bug but an inconvenience. Specifically, the Windows Backup application is automatically installed on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 and LTSC Enterprise systems, causing trouble to some IT and system administrators because the application cannot run properly.

Administrators are not dissatisfied with the application itself, but are dissatisfied with its inability to function properly, as it seems redundant, and the "This feature is not supported by your organization" prompt pops up every time it attempts to run it.

IT House noticed that Microsoft later updated
the FAQ page of Windows Backup to confirm that this issue is being fixed and said that future Windows updates will resolve the issue. At the time, the page read: "Because
Windows Backup is a system component, it cannot be removed. However, we will release a future Windows update to prevent Windows Backup from appearing on computers running
Windows 10 or Windows 11
Certain user interface (UI) screens for Azure Active Directory (AAD) or Active Directory (AD)
users in Professional, Education, or Enterprise editions. For example, after installing future Windows updates, Windows
Backup Will not appear in the "All Apps" or "Installed Apps" lists."

Microsoft has kept its promise and has now removed the app from the "All Apps" and "Installed Apps" lists. The company confirmed the change via an updated FAQ page. The page now reads: "Windows
Backup is a system component and cannot be removed. A Windows update has been released to prevent Windows Backup from appearing on certain user interface (UI) screens in some Windows 10 and Windows 11
versions on. This update prevents Windows Backup from appearing in the 'All Apps' and 'Installed Apps' lists for enterprise users, domain-joined users, guest users, and users whose Microsoft
accounts are restricted by policy. When you install 2024 When Windows
security updates are released on or after January 25, the Windows Backup app will not appear on enterprise-managed devices."

So Microsoft fixed the issue with the January 2024 Patch Tuesday update. However, Microsoft then released the February 2024 update, and installing this new update may also resolve the issue.
