Imagine this scenario: You've been waiting for a letter from your friend, but your iPhone doesn't ring. Then you check your phone and realize you've missed a few calls. Is your phone broken?

Why Your iPhone Won’t Ring

There are several reasons why your iPhone won’t ring. Here are some of the most common ones:

The speaker port is blocked. Your phone is physically damaged. Your ringtone volume has been turned down. Your phone is in Do Not Disturb or Airplane mode. Your phone is paired with Bluetooth. Your phone is infected with malware. Why your iPhone isnt ringing and how to fix it

How to Fix iPhone Not Ringing Issue

If your iPhone doesn’t ring when you receive a call, try these tips.

Check your iPhone for dust, dirt, and damage

Check your iPhone for any damage, such as dents or cracks – these may be a sign that you may need to replace it. Next, check the speaker ports for dust or dirt, which you can easily remove by blowing it off or cleaning it with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

Restart your iPhone

A simple restart may solve the problem of your phone not ringing.

To restart iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), 6, 7, or 8: To restart iPhone SE (1st generation), 5, or earlier: When your iPhone turns back on, ask a friend to call you and see if it rings.

Check the Ring/Silent Switch

The most common reason why your iPhone is not ringing is that the Ring/Silent switch (silent mode) is turned on.

When Silent Mode is on, you'll see an orange band next to the Ring/Silent switch, which is located in the upper left corner of the device, just above the volume buttons. To turn it off, push the switch toward the front of the device. You will receive a silent mode off notification on your screen.

Check your volume settings

If Silent Mode is off and you don't hear your phone ringing, the ringer volume may be all the way down. Here's how to check and adjust your volume settings: Press the Volume Up button, located above the Volume Down button and below the Ring/Silent button on the left side of your device. A bar graph will appear on the screen to track your volume. When your iPhone is locked or you're using an app, you can increase the volume by swiping up to open Control Center, then dragging the volume icon up.

Turn off Do Not Disturb

When Do Not Disturb mode is on, you'll see the crescent moon icon in the status bar and lock screen, and the phone won't ring (on iPhone X, You'll only see this icon in Control Center). Here's how to turn it off:

For iOS 15 and later:

Press and hold the focus icon on the lock screen. Go to Control Center and click Focus. Click on an open focus to close it.

For iOS 14 and earlier:

Go to Control Center and click the crescent icon to close it.

Turn off airplane mode

Check if your phone is in airplane mode. If it were, it wouldn't ring. Go to Settings > Airplane Mode and if it's on, tap the switch to turn it off.

Turn off “Mute Unknown Callers”

Apple added a feature in iOS13 to mute calls from unknown numbers to help avoid spam calls. However, when the Silent Unknown Caller feature is on, your phone won't ring if the number isn't in your contacts.

To turn off this feature, go to Settings > Phone and turn off the "Mute unknown callers" switch.

Make sure the number isn't blocked

If your iPhone doesn't ring when someone calls, you may have blocked the number. Here's how to unlock a number on your iPhone:

Go to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts. Click Edit. Click the red circle next to the blocked number, then click Unblock.

Check your ringtone

If you still have problems, please check your default ringtone. You may need to reinstall it. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtones and select a new ringtone.

If your phone doesn't ring when just one or a few people call, try checking for custom ringtones you may have set:

Go to Phone >Contacts. Tap the name of the person whose call didn't ring, then tap Edit. Click "Ringtone" and select a new ringtone for this contact.

Check if the Bluetooth device is connected

If you don't hear the incoming call, your device may be ringing during the incoming call but sending the audio to another source, such as a Bluetooth® headset or other device.

To quickly disconnect from all Bluetooth devices without turning off Bluetooth, open Control Center and tap the Bluetooth icon.

Complete Factory Reset

If you have tried all the suggested fixes and your iPhone is still not ringing, try factory reset on your phone, but only as a last resort . Your device might be infected with malware (rarely), or it might have other performance issues.

Resetting your iPhone to factory settings will delete almost all data on the device, so be sure to back up all important information first.

summary A developer used a virtual machine (VM) to run the Windows 11 ARM version on iPad Air. The simulation runs slowly and is not a practical alternative. European Union regulations allow users to sideload applications, making this possible. Thanks to the EU's increasingly strict regulations, Apple has been forced to significantly open to its hardware and software - Apple needs to comply with regulations or face the risk of being banned in one of its largest global markets. It is precisely because of the openness that these regulations allow, that someone seems to have successfully run a Windows 11 virtual machine on an iPad. This is really impressive.
