The latest report recently released by TechInsights points out that the smartphone and mobile computing device market segments have faced a series of challenges in recent years, resulting in a weak trend. Market maturity, macroeconomic uncertainty and weak consumer spending are among the main reasons. According to report data, global Wi-Fi device shipments fell by 3% in 2023, to only 2.2 billion. This number is expected to reach 2.9 billion by 2028. This means that the Wi-Fi equipment market will maintain a steady growth trend in the next few years. However, the report also pointed out that despite the overall market weakness, some market segments still maintained relatively good growth momentum. For example, the demand for Wi-Fi devices in the fields of smart home equipment, industrial equipment, and IoT equipment is increasing, which has brought new challenges to the market.

By 2028, smartphones will continue to dominate the Wi-Fi device market, while wireless speakers are likely to overtake flat-panel TVs as the third-largest consumer electronics category, accounting for 10% of all Wi-Fi consumer electronics.
