News on December 22, in order to promote standardization work in the field of artificial intelligence model as a service (MaaS) and promote industrial development, at the just concluded plenary meeting of the Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee of the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee, "Artificial Intelligence The standard document "Model as a Service (MaaS) Reference Architecture" was officially discussed and compiled. It will continue to be promoted to become the domestic standard for Model as a Service. Among them, Alibaba Cloud became the technical leader in the preparation of the standard.

In the past year, large model technology and products have been changing with each passing day, and the market demand for Model as a Service (MaaS) has been rising. It is understood that this standard document provides the reference architecture of Model as a Service (MaSS), stipulates the main activities of MaaS providers, model users, model and data providers, and infrastructure providers, and standardizes the main functions of MaaS Layers, functional components and interfaces, etc., suitable for the construction, application, implementation and maintenance of model-as-a-service and its application systems.

Alibaba Cloud, as the first company to propose the concept of Model as a Service (MaaS), has become the technical leader of this standard. In October 2022, Alibaba Cloud proposed the MaaS concept for the first time in the industry and released the AI model community "Magic Build"; a year later, MaaS became an important technical direction for cloud manufacturers to upgrade towards the AI era, and Microsoft, Tencent, Baidu and other manufacturers have followed suit. As a result, "Moda" has become the largest model community in China, with the number of developers exceeding 2.8 million and model downloads exceeding 100 million. The "Artificial Intelligence Model as a Service (MaaS) Reference Architecture" standard document integrates Alibaba Cloud's extensive experience in MaaS service practice.

At the same meeting, Alibaba Cloud, as the joint technology leader, also held a working group discussion on the national standard proposal for the "Artificial Intelligence Open Source Model Service Platform Technical Requirements" and entered the preparation process. The proposal gives the overall architecture of the open source model service platform, which is suitable for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of related platforms.

It is worth mentioning that since this year, Alibaba Cloud has contributed a wealth of industrial practices in the field of artificial intelligence. Alibaba Cloud serves as the co-leader of the large model special group of the National Artificial Intelligence Standardization Group, and has been deeply involved in the formulation of multiple national standards related to large models. Alibaba Cloud is also the only major technology company to open source large self-developed models. Tongyi Qianwen has topped many authoritative open source model lists at home and abroad.
