Apple's Vision Pro headphones are expected to be released around February 2024. Until then, one way you can prepare for this is to use your iPhone to record video in a special format called spatial video, which can be viewed on Apple's headphones.

Spatial videos appear as normal videos when viewed on iPhone, but they provide an almost three-dimensional immersive viewing experience on Vision Pro. Combining advanced computational camera technology with HEVC compression, Space Memory saves in relatively compact file sizes, recording 1080p at 30 frames per second and taking up up to 130MB of storage for one minute of video.

Enable Spatial Video

1. Open the Settings app on iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
2. Select Camera ➝ Format.
3. Scroll down to "Video Capture" and turn on the switch next to Apple Vision Pro Space Video.

Record spatial video

Apple says spatial video is best recorded when your iPhone is stable and in landscape orientation. In the Camera app, switch to video recording and look for the Vision Pro Headset icon in the viewfinder. Click the icon to switch to spatial video mode. When you're ready to record, just click the red record button.

Keep in mind that if you watch a spatial video in the Photos app on your iPhone, it will look just like a regular video. But there's nothing stopping you from recording special moments in spatial video so you can experience them on Apple Vision Pro when the headset launches in early 2024.
