Sony Group announced on November 22 that it will display the nursing robot they developed at the Japan Science and Future Museum in Koto Ward, Tokyo for a long time from today. These robots will be used to assist care in nursing facilities and communicate with residents to increase their visibility
According to reports, this robot is called HANAMOFLOR, nicknamed はなちゃん (小花, 花香). It is a child-shaped care robot that can move in the living room of a care facility and protect the caregiver
The robot adopts an approachable appearance design and can match the movements and conversations of the elderly. It is 83 centimeters tall and weighs about 20 kilograms. It is used in living rooms and other places of nursing facilities where the elderly are alone.
IT House learned from the introduction of the exhibition that the robot can conduct simple conversations and guessing questions according to pre-set programs. It can also measure body temperature, transfer calls from the family members of the care recipient, and provide simple entertainment (talking) , singing, etc.).
The robot uses facial recognition technology and conversation technology independently developed by Sony. It will confirm the other party's reaction before starting a conversation, so it can communicate with people with dementia symptoms.
In 2019, Sony started developing HANAMOFLOR with the assistance of the Special Nursing Home for the Elderly in Kawasaki City and continued to conduct empirical experiments in order to put it into practical use. Sony said that future commercialization and mass production plans have not yet been determined.
