According to news on October 24, today, in Zhengzhou, China, SAIC held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Zhengzhou new energy battery factory, which marked the company’s firm investment and expansion in the new energy field. This power battery project was launched in Zhengzhou Economic Development Zone in July this year, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan and a planned power battery production capacity of 300,000 units. Once put into production, this project is expected to bring an annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan to the company.
According to the editor’s understanding, the Zhengzhou base is SAIC’s third vehicle production base after Lingang and Nanjing. Since it was put into production in September 2017, the Zhengzhou base has produced and sold more than 1.5 million vehicles, creating an output value of more than 100 billion yuan. This new energy battery factory is part of the base's expansion plan and will further enhance SAIC's strength in the field of new energy vehicles.
SAIC Group’s investment in the field of new energy vehicles is gradually paying off. According to data released by the company, in September alone, SAIC Group's wholesale vehicle sales reached 482,000 units, of which the terminal delivery of new energy vehicles reached 102,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.6% and a month-on-month increase of 18.8%. Wholesale sales in overseas markets also reached 105,000 vehicles. As of the end of September, the total terminal delivery volume of SAIC's new energy vehicles has reached 683,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%.
