News on September 7, Intel recently released a promotional video introducing their advanced packaging technology. The video unexpectedly showed off some snippets of next-generation Xeon processors, which got a lot of attention. According to Intel’s official statement, they have re-uploaded the video that day and deleted the auxiliary lens (B-Roll) that was accidentally exposed in the first version of the video
It is reported that Intel’s The next-generation Xeon processors are divided into two series, namely Sierra Forest and Granite Rapids. Sierra The Forest series uses Intel's 3 process, with a maximum configuration of up to 144 cores. However, it should be noted that these cores are efficiency cores. Meanwhile, Sierra Forest is available in 96-core, 128-core, and 144-core versions, supporting DDR5-5600 memory. These CPUs support dual-socket motherboard configurations, with a theoretical maximum of 288 cores, but since SMT is disabled, each core only gets 1 thread.
The Granite Rapids series can be configured with up to 56 cores, of which the SP model has 2 Compute Tiles, a total of 80 or 88 P cores. Three Computes may be launched in the future Tiles version, with a total of 120 or 132 P cores and support for 8-channel DDR5-6400 memory. Granite Rapids is expected to be officially launched in the first half of 2024, bringing more performance and memory support to the data center and high-performance computing fields.
#Intel has released a series of new products, which demonstrates their continued innovation and development in packaging technology. It is understood that these advanced processors will further promote performance improvements in servers and data centers, meet growing computing needs, and play a positive role in promoting the development of scientific computing, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other fields. Intel’s efforts are expected to bring more innovation opportunities to the global technology industry
