In a C program, print out the pair of elements with the largest AND value in an array

According to the question, we are given an array containing n positive integers, and we need to find the pair with the maximum AND value from the array.

Example

Input: arr[] = { 4, 8, 12, 16 }
Output: pair = 8 12
The maximum and value= 8

Input:arr[] = { 4, 8, 16, 2 }
Output: pair = No possible AND
The maximum and value = 0

The method of finding the maximum AND value is similar to finding the maximum AND value in an array. The program must find the pair of elements that results in the resulting AND value. In order to find these elements, just iterate through the entire array and find the AND value of each element with the maximum AND value (result) you get, if arr[i] & result == result, it means arr[i] is the maximum AND value that will be generated Elements of AND values. Furthermore, we should print "impossible" in case the maximum AND value (result) is zero.

Algorithm

int checkBit(int pattern, int arr[], int n)
START
STEP 1: DECLARE AND INITIALIZE count AS 0
STEP 2: LOOP FOR i = 0 AND i < n AND i++
   IF (pattern & arr[i]) == pattern THEN,
      INCREMENT count BY 1
STEP 3: RETURN count
STOP
int maxAND(int arr[], int n)
START
STEP 1: DECLARE AND INITIALIZE res = 0 AND count
STEP 2: LOOP FOR bit = 31 AND bit >= 0 AND bit--
   count = GOTO FUNCTION checkBit(res | (1 << bit), arr,n)
   IF count >= 2 THEN,
      res |= (1 << bit);
   END IF
   IF res == 0
      PRINT "no possible AND&rdquo;
   ELSE
      PRINT "Pair with maximum AND= "
   count = 0;
   LOOP FOR int i = 0 AND i < n && count < 2 AND i++
      IF (arr[i] & res) == res THEN,
         INCREMENT count BY 1
         PRINT arr[i]
      END IF
   END FOR
END FOR
RETURN res
STOP

Example

Example

#include <stdio.h>
int checkBit(int pattern, int arr[], int n){
   int count = 0;
   for (int i = 0; i < n; i++)
      if ((pattern & arr[i]) == pattern)
         count++;
   return count;
}
// Function for finding maximum AND value pair
int maxAND(int arr[], int n){
   int res = 0, count;
   for (int bit = 31; bit >= 0; bit--) {
      count = checkBit(res | (1 << bit), arr, n);
      if (count >= 2)
         res |= (1 << bit);
   }
   if (res == 0) //if there is no pair available
      printf("no possible and</p><p>");
   else { //Printing the pair available
      printf("Pair with maximum AND= ");
      count = 0;
      for (int i = 0; i < n && count < 2; i++) {
         // incremnent count value after
         // printing element
         if ((arr[i] & res) == res) {
            count++;
            printf("%d ", arr[i]);
         }
      }
   }
   return res;
}
int main(int argc, char const *argv[]){
   int arr[] = {5, 6, 2, 8, 9, 12};
   int n = sizeof(arr)/sizeof(arr[0]);
   int ma = maxAND(arr, n);
   printf("</p><p>The maximum AND value= %d ", ma);
   return 0;
}

Output

If we run the above program, it will generate the following Output −

pair = 8 9
The maximum and value= 8

C XML Libraries: Comparing and Contrasting OptionsC XML Libraries: Comparing and Contrasting OptionsApr 22, 2025 am 12:05 AM

There are four commonly used XML libraries in C: TinyXML-2, PugiXML, Xerces-C, and RapidXML. 1.TinyXML-2 is suitable for environments with limited resources, lightweight but limited functions. 2. PugiXML is fast and supports XPath query, suitable for complex XML structures. 3.Xerces-C is powerful, supports DOM and SAX resolution, and is suitable for complex processing. 4. RapidXML focuses on performance and parses extremely fast, but does not support XPath queries.

C and XML: Exploring the Relationship and SupportC and XML: Exploring the Relationship and SupportApr 21, 2025 am 12:02 AM

C interacts with XML through third-party libraries (such as TinyXML, Pugixml, Xerces-C). 1) Use the library to parse XML files and convert them into C-processable data structures. 2) When generating XML, convert the C data structure to XML format. 3) In practical applications, XML is often used for configuration files and data exchange to improve development efficiency.

C# vs. C : Understanding the Key Differences and SimilaritiesC# vs. C : Understanding the Key Differences and SimilaritiesApr 20, 2025 am 12:03 AM

The main differences between C# and C are syntax, performance and application scenarios. 1) The C# syntax is more concise, supports garbage collection, and is suitable for .NET framework development. 2) C has higher performance and requires manual memory management, which is often used in system programming and game development.

C# vs. C  : History, Evolution, and Future ProspectsC# vs. C : History, Evolution, and Future ProspectsApr 19, 2025 am 12:07 AM

The history and evolution of C# and C are unique, and the future prospects are also different. 1.C was invented by BjarneStroustrup in 1983 to introduce object-oriented programming into the C language. Its evolution process includes multiple standardizations, such as C 11 introducing auto keywords and lambda expressions, C 20 introducing concepts and coroutines, and will focus on performance and system-level programming in the future. 2.C# was released by Microsoft in 2000. Combining the advantages of C and Java, its evolution focuses on simplicity and productivity. For example, C#2.0 introduced generics and C#5.0 introduced asynchronous programming, which will focus on developers' productivity and cloud computing in the future.

C# vs. C  : Learning Curves and Developer ExperienceC# vs. C : Learning Curves and Developer ExperienceApr 18, 2025 am 12:13 AM

There are significant differences in the learning curves of C# and C and developer experience. 1) The learning curve of C# is relatively flat and is suitable for rapid development and enterprise-level applications. 2) The learning curve of C is steep and is suitable for high-performance and low-level control scenarios.

C# vs. C  : Object-Oriented Programming and FeaturesC# vs. C : Object-Oriented Programming and FeaturesApr 17, 2025 am 12:02 AM

There are significant differences in how C# and C implement and features in object-oriented programming (OOP). 1) The class definition and syntax of C# are more concise and support advanced features such as LINQ. 2) C provides finer granular control, suitable for system programming and high performance needs. Both have their own advantages, and the choice should be based on the specific application scenario.

From XML to C : Data Transformation and ManipulationFrom XML to C : Data Transformation and ManipulationApr 16, 2025 am 12:08 AM

Converting from XML to C and performing data operations can be achieved through the following steps: 1) parsing XML files using tinyxml2 library, 2) mapping data into C's data structure, 3) using C standard library such as std::vector for data operations. Through these steps, data converted from XML can be processed and manipulated efficiently.

C# vs. C  : Memory Management and Garbage CollectionC# vs. C : Memory Management and Garbage CollectionApr 15, 2025 am 12:16 AM

C# uses automatic garbage collection mechanism, while C uses manual memory management. 1. C#'s garbage collector automatically manages memory to reduce the risk of memory leakage, but may lead to performance degradation. 2.C provides flexible memory control, suitable for applications that require fine management, but should be handled with caution to avoid memory leakage.

mPDF

mPDF

mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
