For those who don’t know, Windows 365 allows organizations to stream from Windows hosted on Microsoft in the cloud. It’s a complete Windows experience for every employee with personalized settings, apps, and data. You don't need any special hardware to run it, just choose from multiple pricing tiers ranging from $20 to $162 - which gets you a cloud PC with 8 vCPUs, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.
Microsoft has revealed that it is bringing support for nested virtualization to Windows 365 Cloud PC. At launch, it will support Linux and preview builds of Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). Basically, this means organizations can run Hyper-V in a Hyper-V Windows 365 virtual machine and run Linux and WSA directly within it.
This feature will definitely benefit developers who are using Windows 365 Cloud PC and want to virtualize another operating system for testing and/or cross-platform development. However, it will only be enabled for "certain license types," which may be the more expensive Windows 365 Enterprise tier, but it's unclear at the moment. It's tracked as feature ID 89004 on the Microsoft 365 roadmap and is expected to be previewed next month. General availability is expected in December 2022.
