Microsoft recently announced that it plans to release new features for Windows 11 outside of the planned fall 2022 update. The first big Windows 11 update of the year will be released later this month, and Microsoft has now started testing the changes with users in the Release Preview and Beta channels.
Unlike Windows 10, Windows 11 is modular and its features can be updated through separate Windows Updates and Microsoft Updates. The tech giant plans to drive updates to existing features like the taskbar by releasing feature, web and online services experience packs on top of Windows builds.
These experience packs are provided along with the annual feature updates and they will bring small improvements/features to the operating system. Windows 11 feature updates, on the other hand, will add major new features or expanded functionality to certain areas of the operating system.
Microsoft has now released Windows 11 Build 22000.526 in the Release Preview and Beta channels. A preview update restores support for time and date on multiple monitors in the operating system. After the update, you will be able to add a clock and date to the taskbar on the remaining monitors.
There are a lot of issues with Windows 11 and it would be nice to see new features being added to the taskbar.
In addition, Microsoft has also added support for weather content on the left side of the taskbar.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the weather widget will now appear on the left side of the desktop if your taskbar is aligned in the taskbar. You can also hover over the weather or click the button to open the existing widget panel on the left.
Microsoft is adding a taskbar feature to share content from open app windows directly from the taskbar in Windows 11. This is a feature that allows you to quickly mute and unmute active video calls from the taskbar.
The February 2022 Update for Windows 11 is now available in preview and you can share content directly from the taskbar during a Teams call. This will eliminate the need to switch back and forth between open applications/windows and is designed to make it easier for users to focus on their meetings.
You can share content by clicking the "Share this window" button that appears below the app preview. You can click Stop Sharing at any time.
Other improvements included in the build:
In the coming weeks, Microsoft will also begin rolling out Android support and other improvements through Experience Packs.
