Adobe enters the era of generative AI with enterprise-grade creative apps
Perhaps in the near future, everything from illustrations to brand assets may be created differently using Firefly, Adobe’s enterprise-grade creative application and generative artificial intelligence tool. People just tell Firefly what they want, and it draws a picture or creates a video.
Just say it and you can draw it
At a summit held by Adobe, the company released Adobe Express Enterprise Edition, a new tool that Used to create, share and collaborate on high-quality branded content such as multimedia content, social posts and more. Adobe will also introduce generative artificial intelligence tools into Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro and its customer experience tools, and will also launch a new content creation tool for enterprise users.
The most interesting news for many users is that Adobe plans to introduce generative AI into its creative tools.
Artificial intelligence is no stranger to Adobe. The Sensei platform developed by the company drives powerful tools such as filter functions in Photoshop, and its new Firefly promises to take its performance to very high levels.
Adobe explained that its artificial intelligence tool Firefly will be very attractive to creative workers, who can use Firefly to create images, videos, illustrations and 3D graphics. It will create vectors, brushes, textures, graphic designs, videos and social media posts. It can also run 3D models, create brand assets, and even more.
In the future, Adobe hopes to add more related functions to its products.
The company also said it hopes to allow creative people to bridge gaps in technical or drawing skills by offering all the features of creative apps in a visual form. It's unclear whether the software will work faster on Macs due to the dedicated on-chip machine learning resources included in its microservices Neuron Engine.
Creativity through Conversation
David Wadhwani, president of Adobe’s digital media business, said in a statement: “Generative AI is AI-driven creativity. and the next evolution in productivity that transforms the conversation between creators and computers into something more natural, intuitive, and powerful."
Adobe is open about how it trains Firefly.
·It uses Adobe's own copyrighted images, images whose copyright has expired.
·It does not use any form of unauthorized images.
The news explains why Adobe launched the Content Authenticity Initiative four years ago. To support the initiative, the company will introduce a "Do Not Train" label that creatives can apply to their work to prevent it from being analyzed by artificial intelligence. To some extent, this reminds people of Steve Jobs's famous saying "Great artists steal other people's inspiration" - except that Adobe here says: "Great artists don't steal other people's inspiration."
Towards ethical artificial intelligence?
People have a lot of concerns about the application of artificial intelligence, and Adobe has to discuss and deal with some issues. To support this effort, the company has developed an AI ethics framework and adopted a formal review process across its engineering teams in an effort to ensure that the AI in its products reflects corporate needs and human values.
A blog post on the company’s website points out some of the challenges that still surround artificial intelligence, particularly the inherent bias in AI models. Adobe is also committed to continuously testing the models it creates to check internally for security and bias, and providing these results to Adobe's engineering teams to resolve any issues that arise.
The company pledges to responsibly develop creative generative AI, saying: “Our mission is to give creators every advantage — not just creatively, but also practically. As Firefly grows, we will continue to work closely with the creative community to develop technology that supports and improves the creative process."
Adobe will integrate Firefly directly into its industry-leading tools and services so users can Use Firefly within your existing workflow. The company says it's also working on adding scene-aware image generation capabilities to the software.
Artificial intelligence technology needs supervision
With generative AI seemingly gaining traction faster than the internet itself, Adobe’s warning that all stakeholders should work together to develop these technologies responsibly needs to be heeded. The company said: “As the technology continues to evolve, generative AI will create new challenges that industry, government and communities must work together to address. By sharing best practices and adhering to the principles of responsible development of generative AI, With intelligent standards, we can unleash the endless possibilities it holds and build a more trustworthy digital space."
Adobe is entering the now very hot field of generative artificial intelligence. Given that Adobe and Apple have long collaborated on augmented reality on Project Aero, Apple may have been developing this exciting new technology in secret for some time. Maybe people will get the exact answer at WWDC.
Adobe is currently testing Firefly. Its beta version is available if users are interested in learning about its capabilities.

"I think AI tools are changing the learning opportunities for college students. We believe in developing students in core courses, but more and more people also want to get a perspective of computational and statistical thinking," said University of Chicago President Paul Alivisatos in an interview with Deloitte Nitin Mittal at the Davos Forum in January.
