Twice a year since 2014, Jordi Boggiano, co-founder of Private Packagist, has searched for the most commonly used versions of the PHP programming language. We looked at the results of the recently released PHP Version Stats 2019.2 from November 2019.
PHP 7.3 is one of the most commonly used PHP versions
In May 2019, PHP 7.2 accounted for 39.3% of the answers as the most popular version. In November 2019, PHP 7.3 took the lead. In May, PHP 7.3 usage was 15.5%. In November 2019, a growth of 19.89% was seen, making PHP 7.3 the current most popular PHP version at 35.2%.

The community stated that support for version 5.x ended on December 31, 2018. According to statistics, 9% of people are still using the outdated and no longer supported version 5.x.
PHP 7.1 was recently discontinued on December 1, 2019 (as reported). In November 2019, 15.3% of users were still using this version. Compared to May 2019 results, usage decreased by 10.32%.
The latest version of PHP, 7.4, did not appear until November 2019. According to statistics, the value here is 2.92% and is trending upward.
