Clair Obscur Expedition 33 tips and tricks
Here are our Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 tips and tricks to help you survive your journey to face The Paintress:
- Go exploring! - There are plenty of Pictos, Chroma, creepy mimes, minigames, cosmetics, and more to find off the beaten path.
- Use your Aim shots to deal with weaker mobs at the start of a battle - Targeting the 'weaker' mobs of enemies with aim shots that target their weak points will help you whittle down the amount of enemies you need to face. Often, targeting weak spots won't instantly kill an enemy (though sometimes it will) but it will deal enough damage to them to make taking them out faster and easier.
- Remember to take advantage of an enemy's Elemental weakness - Most enemies have an element they're weak to, so pay attention to their reactions to different attacks to figure out which one this this and then take advantage of that knowledge
- Use Gustave’s Overcharge when it’s maxed out - Gustave's Overcharge skill is weak until it reaches the purple tier, but we strongly advise waiting until it's maxed out at the red tier (10) before using it as this is when it's most powerful.
- Switch your weapon to another if an enemy is resistant to it (and you have another decent weapon) - Not all wepaons will work against every enemy, so if you're finding your current equipment isn't having much of an effect or that the enemy is resistant to it then it's worth switching weapons.
- Dodging is easier than parrying - If you're struggling to parry, particularly against large and dangerous enemies, then dodging is a far easier way of making sure you stay alive without taking any damage. That being said…
- Parrying is stronger - Learn to parry and get a sense of your enemy's attack rhythm to do so, the counter that parrying creates is incredibly strong.
- Equip Pictos and Lumina that synergize with your whole team - Team work makes the dream work, or in this case a possible nightmare, but either way you need a solid and strong team to make it through.
- Build around your favourite weapon - Attribute Points give you a damage bonus if they match your equipped weapon.
- Flying enemies can dodge normal attacks - Flying enemies can dodge any 'normal' or ground-based attacks you use, so use your Aim shots instead to bring them down.
- Enemies will reset when you rest at flags - This can be useful if you want to farm XP and materials, or hone your skills against a specific enemy type.
- Take the time to learn every character's mechanics - Each playable character has very different fighting styles, all of which can be powerful in unison or individually once you learn how to use them effectively.
- Master every Pictos - When you've participated in four battles with a Pictos equipped, the Pictos will be mastered and you can then tinker with them properly. Also, they have stat boosts alongside their Lumina Abilities, so it's worth experimenting with them.
- You can always try again later - If you come across a boss, or an optional battle that you're finding tough, then you can always try again later. In most cases, you may find you need to farm XP and materials to upgrade your character or weapons to defeat the enemy or enemies blocking your path.
