Oblivion Remastered: Liberation Or Apprehension Quest Walkthrough

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, your journey through the Arcane University continues. After proving your skill against necromancers, the Archmage tasks you with a perilous mission: uncovering a hidden plot threatening the University and Tamriel itself. This mission, far more challenging than any before, will test your abilities to the limit.

This critical assignment demands you've already mastered the preceding challenges. To unlock this quest, you must have completed all four tasks for Raminus Polus and achieved the Magician rank. These tasks are:

3. Vahtacen's Secret
4. Necromancer's Moon

Upon completion, Archmage Traven will initiate the quest, "Liberation or Apprehension," instructing you to rescue Mucianus Allias from Nenyond Twyll, a perilous Ayleid ruin.

How to Rescue (or Recover) Mucianus Allias

Nenyond Twyll lies south of the Imperial City, west of Hircine's Shrine and Faregyl Inn. Enter through the door at the base of a marble structure with a spiral staircase.

Inside, you'll encounter a battlemage, Fithragaer, who will trigger a deadly floor trap. Avoid the trap by staying on the platform edges. Eliminate the subsequent skeleton and necromancer. Note: While Fithragaer's death is intended, he may survive; attempting to save him is not recommended.

Proceed cautiously, defeating two necromancers individually in the next room. Loot their remains before facing a skeletal guardian in the hallway (and remember to loot the helpful potions in the chests there!).

In the Riellesel level, speak with Mariette Rielle to uncover Mucianus's fate. Prepare for a battle; defeat her swiftly to avoid her summons and the skeleton below.

The final chamber holds a skeleton, a zombie, and three necromancers. After defeating them, locate a hidden door on the north wall (by pressing a block to the left). Behind this door lies Mucianus, already undead. End his suffering.

Loot the chest in the back room before returning to the Archmage. Report Mucianus's fate to complete the quest. While there are no direct rewards, completing this quest allows you to advance to the Warlock rank by speaking with Raminus Polus.
