The Fire Valkyrie From 'Macross 7' Gets A Great New Toy This October

The Fire Valkyrie, a beloved mecha from the Macross 7 anime, has finally received a highly anticipated DX Chogokin release from Bandai Spirits. While various Fire Valkyrie toys exist, from older 1/60 scale models to more recent Hi-Metal R versions, this marks the first mainline DX Chogokin entry for the Macross 7 series.

This release distinguishes itself with its larger scale, extensive die-cast components, and a unique feature: an interchangeable faceplate with an open mouth. Even the calf-mounted missiles are included. The overall design is exceptional, particularly the detailed shoulder speakers.

The Macross 7 series differs significantly from other entries in the franchise, placing a strong emphasis on music and its impact on the alien Protodeviln. This musical focus, while reminiscent of the original Macross, sets it apart from later entries like Macross Plus, which many fans are more familiar with. This has led to some division among fans, but the series, including its OVAs and films, remains a favorite for many.

Fire Bomber, the series' iconic musical group, and their musically-equipped variable fighters, are central to the show's appeal. The Fire Valkyrie's design is iconic within Macross 7, and hopefully, a Sound Booster add-on will follow (similar to the recent Hi-Metal R release).

Priced at 36,300 yen (approximately $253 USD), this DX Chogokin Fire Valkyrie is a premium offering, but in line with other Bandai Spirits DX Chogokin releases. Launched in Japan this October, it's a must-have for collectors, and hopefully, a Western release will follow.
