UFC Legend Announces Return From Retirement 'I'm Back And Ready To Go'

UFC legend Amanda Nunes returns strongly! At the UFC 314 post-match media meeting, the former UFC women's featherweight and bantamweight champion, and a legend recently inducted into the Hall of Fame, announced his return to the arena.

“UFC is my home,” Nunes said. "It's my cage. I'm a lioness. I'm back and ready." You probably have never heard a retired boxer say such a sure statement.

Nunes’ goal is to challenge the winner between Juliana Pena and Kayla Harrison in UFC 316, and she seems to want Harrison to beat the old rival.

“I think the grudges with Kayla Harrison have inspired me a lot,” Nunez admitted. "It was a big deal for her to join the UFC. You know she used to always talk about me in interviews. I said, you know? I wasn't hurt, I'm fine, I'm still training, and I'm healthy. Why not? It's a great challenge. My life, my whole career, has been with challenges. I love that feeling. Challenge, threat. It's good. Kaira has put a threat to this level and I love being in it."

Nunez will be at least 37 years old when he challenges the title. Her 37th birthday is next month.

Even so, the age gap between her and her target opponent is not big. Pena will turn 36 in August and Harrison will turn 35 in July. To some extent, Nunez's absence may give her an advantage because she can fully rest her body and mind before returning to the field.

Pena and Nunez had a half record in the two matches.

In December 2021, Pena defeated Nunez in the second round and won the championship title. In the rematch, Nunes won by unanimous decision, won a goal and regained the belt in July 2022.
