The episode unfolds as a captivating interplay between Matt, Heather, Fisk, and Vanessa, culminating in a shocking revelation: Vanessa orchestrated Foggy's murder, exposing Bullseye's rampage as a targeted, not random, act of revenge. However, after a prison assassination attempt, Bullseye prepares to kill Fisk… only to have Matt take the bullet, a direct callback to an earlier conversation with Poindexter about defending even one's worst enemy.

This episode is stunning, rivaling the best moments of season 3 and easily the best single episode of Born Again. Its excellence is particularly frustrating given its origins: this episode, and the following one featuring Frank Castle and Karen, were crafted independently of the problematic initial draft. While the original plot may have undergone revisions, remnants of its disjointed nature persisted. Now, however, the narrative flows seamlessly – a promising sign for the already-filming season 2, which, like these final two episodes (and supposedly the premiere), will be entirely original. Last night's episode didn't even require Matt's suit to be exceptional.

The frustration stems from the previous episodes' underwhelming nature, though not outright bad. This episode marks a significant improvement, a trend expected to continue with next week's finale. It's the quality these actors and characters deserve.
