Many browsers offer input fields with increment/decrement buttons (spinners) for numerical values. While useful, more advanced methods exist, such as "number scrubbing." This technique, popularized by applications like Photoshop, allows users to directly manipulate numerical values by dragging a cursor left or right.

A recent demonstration by Dominik Jančík showcased this within a code block, enabling mouse users to hover over numbers and scrub to adjust them. While integrating this directly into CodePen's editor might be challenging, it's ideally suited for a plugin within CodeMirror, Monaco, or Ace editors. The Khan Academy editor already demonstrates Ace's capability in this area.

Fabrice Weinberg's example provides a robust number scrubber with numerous options. While Lea Verou's Dabblet doesn't implement scrubbing, it features other helpful UI elements like popups and supports keyboard shortcuts (⌥ ↑ and ⌥ ↓) for number adjustments – a feature already present in CodePen thanks to Emmet.
