How do I pause Windows updates?

To pause Windows updates, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu and select the gear icon to open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Update & Security: In the Settings window, click on "Update & Security".
  3. Select Windows Update: On the left sidebar, select "Windows Update".
  4. Pause Updates: If updates are available, you will see a "Pause updates" or "Pause for 7 days" option. Click on it to pause the updates. If you don't see this option immediately, check under "Advanced options" for a "Pause updates" setting.

Note that you can pause updates for up to 35 days at a time, but you'll need to manually renew the pause every 7 days to keep it in effect.

How long can I delay Windows updates?

You can delay Windows updates for up to 35 days in total. Here's how it works:

  • Initially, you can pause updates for 7 days.
  • After the first 7 days, you can extend the pause for another 7 days, and you can do this up to 5 times.
  • This means you can keep updates paused for a total of 35 days (5 weeks) by renewing the pause every week.

Keep in mind that after 35 days, the pause option will no longer be available, and Windows will automatically resume downloading and installing updates.

What are the risks of pausing Windows updates?

Pausing Windows updates can expose your system to several risks:

  1. Security Vulnerabilities: Windows updates often include critical security patches that protect your system from known vulnerabilities. By pausing updates, you may leave your system open to attacks that these patches would have prevented.
  2. Missing Feature Updates: Updates sometimes include new features or improvements to existing ones. By pausing, you might miss out on these enhancements.
  3. System Stability Issues: Some updates address system stability and performance issues. If you pause updates, you might continue experiencing these problems for longer than necessary.
  4. Compliance Issues: In some environments, such as corporate networks, keeping systems up to date is a requirement for compliance with security policies. Pausing updates could lead to non-compliance.
  5. Accumulated Updates: When you finally allow updates to resume, you may have to download and install a large number of updates at once, which can take a significant amount of time and bandwidth.

How can I resume Windows updates after pausing them?

To resume Windows updates after you've paused them, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu and select the gear icon to open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Update & Security: In the Settings window, click on "Update & Security".
  3. Select Windows Update: On the left sidebar, select "Windows Update".
  4. Resume Updates: If updates are paused, you will see a "Resume updates" button. Click on it to resume the update process.

After clicking "Resume updates", Windows will start checking for updates and downloading them if they are available. Depending on how long you've had updates paused, it may take some time for Windows to catch up on all the updates it missed.

mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
