The incompatibility stemmed from a conflict between AutoCAD 2022 and underlying changes introduced in Windows 11 24H2. Microsoft initially blocked the update for users with AutoCAD 2022 installed (safeguard ID: 56211213). This prevented automatic updates and discouraged manual upgrades via the Installation Assistant or Media Creation Tool.

The solution required action from Autodesk, AutoCAD's developer. Autodesk released an update (AutoCAD 2022.1.4 S182.0.0) resolving the conflict. After installing this update (or a later version), the Windows 11 24H2 update will become available through Windows Update. Note that this may take up to 48 hours.

Microsoft frequently employs safeguard holds to prevent compatibility issues following major updates. With this significant block removed, the 24H2 rollout is nearing completion. Users are urged to update to 24H2 via Windows Update before 23H2's deprecation in November.
