Instagram and Threads are now showing more political content by default. Meta's decision reverses a February 2024 policy. While Instagram head Adam Mosseri acknowledges this isn't ideal, user demand prompted the change. This impacts both Instagram and Threads feeds in the US (with global rollout next week).

Users can adjust their settings to control political content visibility. On Instagram, navigate to your profile, tap the menu, select "What you see," then "Suggested content," and finally "Political content." Choose "See less" to minimize political suggestions. Alternatively, use the "Snooze suggested posts" option for a 30-day reprieve. Similar settings are available on Threads, though the menu path differs slightly (Profile > Menu > Account > Political Content).
