Microsoft brings sheet protection to iPad Excel, aligning the app with desktop and online versions. Users can now pause, resume, and manage sheet protection, edit locked or unlocked ranges, and control access permissions.
This update follows the recent addition of Apple Handoff support. The long-awaited sheet protection feature provides crucial data security, preventing accidental edits or deletions of important information.
A padlock icon on the sheet tab indicates existing protection. To manage protection:
The menu allows pausing protection ("Pause Sheet Selection"), resuming ("Resume Sheet Protection"), protecting an unprotected sheet ("Protect Sheet"), or restricting access ("Restrict Permissions"). For advanced controls, select "Manage Sheet Protection" to change passwords, redefine protected ranges, and adjust other settings. Password-protected sheets require re-entry for modification.
This feature is available in Excel for iPad version 2.90.930.0 and later. If unavailable, check back later as Microsoft is rolling out the update gradually.
