While Planet Coaster 2 focuses on building the best roller coasters you can, you can also dabble in the water park elements to make your amusement park shine. Pools add a fun and colorful touch to any theme park, especially when there are rides to go with them. But how do you build a pool and draw your guests to it?
We'll walk you through how to build your very own pools, and how to keep them operating smoothly so you can bring an extra income. We'll also show you have to add flumes and rides for your pool to increase your park rating!
What Do You Need To Build A Pool?
Building pools in Planet Coaster 2 doesn't have to be hard, but if you're not sure where to start, it can take some trial and error. To build a pool, open up the pool tab in the browser.
You can select a premade pool here or you can design one yourself. Regardless, there are a few things you need to make sure your pool operates smoothly and that your guests can access it.
- Water Filter. This ensures that the water in the pool is clean.
- Water Pump. This keeps the water moving through the filter, making sure it's clean.
- Lifeguard Posts. The safety of your guests is a priority, and having enough lifeguard coverage means that distressed guests can be rescued.
- Guest Services Facility. Visitors to your park need to be able to purchase tickets to the water park features.
- Body Dryer Facility. Once guests are done swimming, they'll need a place to fully dry off.
- Changing Room Facility. Guests will need a place to change into their swimwear comfortably.
Without these features, guests are unlikely to use your pool for long, if at all. You can find the filtration system under the utilities tab, and different buildings in the facilities tab.
You can also hire additional lifeguards to cover breaks and shift changes.
Everything else can be found in the pool extras section of the pool tab.
You'll need to connect the water filter and pump to have them operate, and you'll need enough power for them to work. You can do this by selecting the custom option in utilities, then selecting the add water pipe option.
Connect them like you would a power generator and power distributor, making sure that the pool is within range of the device. From there, the pool will function by itself until a mechanic is needed for regular maintenance.
Make sure to schedule regular maintenance so that the pool doesn't get shut down or abandoned by guests!
How To Build A Custom Pool
To build a custom pool, select the create custom option in the pool menu. This will bring up the pool tools sidebar, where you can select the side, shape, and path of the pool. You can also change the depth of the pool from shallow to wading, swimming, or diving.
You can use the rounding tool to smooth out any edges by lining up the brush with sharp corners and walls.
Selecting the color palette icon will bring up more customization options for your pool's appearance, including the tiles used in the water and the edging along the outside.
In the third tab, between that palette and the bulldozer, you can change the options for a lazy river so long as you have water jets installed in the pool.
How To Build Flume Rides
Flume rides are the most exciting part of the pool process. There are several you can unlock as you progress through the main campaign. Flumes can start wherever you'd like in the park, but they must end over a pool so guests can drop into the water safely.
The height at which they drop doesn't seem to have a limit, so long as they hit the water. Get creative!
There are two main types of flumes available from the start. The first is the body slide which is open on all sides and can only go straight. There are no twists or turns with this attraction, but guests still love it.
The second available slide is the body flume, which resembles the traditional water slide with an enclosed tube and many curves. This option is more expensive, but you have more creative freedom–like loops and special drops.
Regardless of the type of flume ride you create, you'll need to place an end piece in or above the pool, then test the ride like you would a coaster before you can open it.
