Samsung highlights the difference between Exynos 2400e and Exynos 2400

Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 FE with a slightly tweaked Exynos 2400. Named Exynos 2400e, the company has now revealed what really sets this modified variant of the SoC apart. As Samsung Semiconductor told Android Authority, the only difference between the two is the maximum frequency.

The Exynos 2400e that's inside the new Galaxy S24 FE maxes out at 3.1 GHz. In comparison, the regular variant of the SoC can max out at 3.2 GHz, which means there's only a 100 Mhz difference when it comes to Fmax. This 0.1 GHz difference would only be slightly noticeable in terms of benchmarks.

That is, this lower clock speed is unlikely to result in any real-world performance loss. As for why the maximum frequency was lowered, Samsung Semiconductor says that it's done to slightly optimize the SoC for the Galaxy S24 FE. The company didn't share whether the optimization is for battery lifeor temperature.

Worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is only available with the Exynos 2400e. The predecessors, such as the S23 FE, had a Snapdragon variant, and the vanilla and Plus models that are sold in the US, Canada, and China feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.

In our benchmarks, the Exynos 2400 wins over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy in 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme, PCMark, and idle power consumption. The Samsung chip is a bit behind in the other aspects, and the same should also apply to the chip powering the S24 FE.

Other than that, given that the Exynos 2400e and Exynos 2400 are identical, the Galaxy S24 FE should get all the future Galaxy AI features that land for the series. The other features that come with One UI updates should also be available on the new, slightly affordable Samsung flagship phone (128 GB S24 curr. $719.99 on Amazon).
