Garmin releases new update for mid-range smartwatch with important bug fixes

The Forerunner 265 has received another software update, two weeks after Garmin started rolling out System Software 20.26 to the device. Typically, the company would return to issuing beta updates, as has been the case in previous release schedules. However, that has not proven the case this time around.

Instead, Garmin has decided to offer another new stable update, which is rolling out globally. Please note that you can manually contact Garmin's updates servers from any of its recent smartwatches by navigating through the following menus:

Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates

According to Garmin's changelog, Software Version 20.29 introduces two overarching changes for the Forerunner 265 (curr. $425 on Amazon). In comparison, its predecessor brought over a dozen changes to the same smartwatch. On the one hand, the update should resolve a bug that caused incident detection to remain active after an activity. On the other hand, Software Version 20.29 should also address a 'rare' issue that Garmin reports could potentially result in a crash occurring when starting an activity. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
