According to CBS News, Climeworks founder Jan Wurzbacher said that in order for the world to be "carbon neutral" by 2050, 60 to 16 billion tons of carbon dioxide would need to be removed from the air every year. In other words, the plant could only achieve 0.0006% of its target.
To this end, Wurzbacher implored other companies to join the cause. He said Climeworks aims to capture more than a million tonnes per year by 2030 and more than a billion tonnes by 2050.
