WordPress user roles
In this chapter, we will learn about the role of users in WordPress. Every user has their own role in WordPress. Roles are similar to granting specific users access to a WordPress site. These roles can only be assigned by administrators.
There are several predefined roles available in WordPress:
Administrator - Administrator has all permissions. Admins can do anything on a WordPress site such as create more admins, invite more users and delete them.
Editor - Editors have access to all posts, pages, comments, categories, tags and links. They can create, publish, edit or delete any post or page.
Author - Authors can only write posts, upload images, edit and publish their own posts.
Contributor - Contributors can only write and edit their posts until they are published. They can create their own posts and pages but cannot publish them. They can't upload images or files, but they can see the status of your site. When they want to publish any post, they must first notify the admins for review. When a post is approved, contributors cannot make any changes once published.
Follower - Followers can only read and comment on messages. Followers are people who are logged into your account to receive updates.
Viewer - Viewers can only view your posts; they cannot edit, but can only comment on posts.
