WordPress plugin settings


In this chapter, we will look at how to use plugins in a WordPress website. Plugins allow to easily modify, customize or enhance a WordPress blog or post. A WordPress plugin is a piece of software that can be uploaded to extend the functionality of your website. They add services or functionality to WordPress blogs. Plugins are used to make your work easier. Here are the simple steps to add a plugin.

Step (1) - In the left column, click Plugins → Installed Plugins, as shown on the screen.

Step (2) - The following page is displayed.

In this section you can view your installed plugins.

Step (3) - Click Plugins → Add New, as shown below.

Step (4) - A list of plugins used in WordPress appears. Here you can install a plug-in directly from the available list or click Upload Plugin to upload a plug-in.

When you click to upload the plugin, you will get the following page.

Click on Browse and it will return you to the page where you can select plugins from your WordPress site. If you click Choose File, you can add files from the system. Otherwise, you can directly select the desired plugin and click Install now as shown in the screenshot below.

When you click Install Now, the package starts downloading and installing. Then, click Activate plugin to activate the plugin for use in WordPress as shown in the screen below.

After clicking to activate the plug-in, you will receive a message: Plug-in activated, you can also find the installed plug-in in the list.

Under Plugin Enabled, you can view several options such as All, Active, Inactive and Update available

When you click Active , the following page will be displayed. Here you can view all activated plugins.

When we click Inactive, available but inactive plug-ins will be displayed. You can activate this plugin by clicking Activate.

When you click Update available, you will see a list of plugins that must be updated. Click Update, and you will receive the Update message.

Click Bulk Actions and select any option. Click the Apply button to update, delete, activate or deactivate each plugin by checking the corresponding box.

In Search Installed Plugins , you simply enter your plugin name in the Installed text box and click Search Installed Plugins button.

When you click the Search installed Plugin button, you will see the following page with the corresponding plugin.

Step (5) - Click Plugins → Editor in the sidebar.

Step (6) - The following page is displayed.

#This page allows you to edit the plugin. Explain a few options.

  • Select plugin to edit (Select plugin to edit) - Allows you to select a plugin from the drop-down list and edit it.

  • Documentation(Documentation) - Allows you to select a tool from a drop-down list to edit the plugin.

  • Plugin files(plugin files) - Allows you to select files from a list and edit them accordingly.

Finally, after editing the plugin file, click on the Update file.
