WordPress add page



In this chapter, we will look at how to add Add Pages to WordPress. Adding a page is similar to adding a post in WordPress. Pages are static content and generally do not change the information they display.

Here are the simple steps to add a page in WordPress.

Step (1) - Click on Pages → Add New , as shown in the screenshot below.

Step (2) - You will get the editor page as shown in the screenshot below. The editor page has two tabs, Visual and Text. You can insert text in any of them. Here we will look at how to insert text into Visual format.

The following are the details of the fields on the editor page of Add New Page.

Title

It is used to write the title of the article, which will be displayed on the page later.

Permalinks show the potential URL of the page below the title. The URL is generated based on the given title.

WYSIWYG Editing

It is a WYSIWYG editor, similar to a word processor interface, where you can edit The content of the article.

The following are the options for the WYSIWYG editor -

  • Bold Button - Used to make your font bold.

  • Italic - for italic fonts.

  • Word Strike - Strike content.

  • Bullet List - Add bullets to your content.

  • Number List - Adds a number to the content list.

  • Blockquote - Quote text.

  • Horizontal Line - Create horizontal lines between sentences.

  • Left Align - Set the content on the left side of the page.

  • Right Align - Sets content to the right side of the page.

  • Justify - Prove the content of the web page.

  • Add Link - Add a link to your content. When you click this button, the following page will be displayed.

#The following are the fields shown in the Insert/Edit link.

  • URL - Enter the URL you want to associate.

  • Link text - Insert the text to be entered in the link.

  • Open link in a new window/tab - Open the linked page in a new tab or window. Check the checkboxes as needed.

  • Or link to existing account - Link to an existing content page by selecting the page from the given list. When you click on an existing page, you will get the link created in the URL section as shown in the following screenshot.

  • Remove Link - Remove a specific link added to text or content.

  • Read more tag - Add the Read More tag to your web pages.

  • Toolbar toggle - Click this button to get another list of toolbars, as shown below.

  • Paragraph - Select the text you want from the drop-down list title.

  • Underline - Emphasis on sentences.

  • Justify - Justify your content.

  • Text Color - Set the color of the word or sentence.

  • Paste as Text - Paste text.

  • Clear Formatting - Delete the selection.

  • Special character - Insert the special characters you need in your content.

  • Increase Indent - Increase the indentation of the web page.

  • #Decrease Indent - Decrease the indent of the web page.

  • Undo - Undo the most recent editing command.

  • Redo - The opposite of Undo, restores the most recent editing command.

Text insertion

is used to write the content of the article.

Publish

Publish web pages to users on the site.

Page Properties

The Page Properties module allows you to select a parent for a specific page. You can also set the order of pages.

  • Parent - Allows you to select a parent page.

  • Order - Set the order of pages.
