WordPress Add Category


In this chapter, we will look at how to add categories in WordPress. Categories are used to indicate sections of your website and groups of related posts. It divides the group content into different sections. This is a very convenient way to organize posts.

To access the categories section, follow the steps mentioned -

Step (1) - Click on Posts → Categories## in WordPress #Options.

Step (2) - Display the Categories page, as shown in the screenshot below.

The following are details about the fields of categories.

  • Name - Enter a unique name for the category.

  • Slug - Choose words to describe your message. It is specified in the tag URL.

  • Parent - You can set a specific category as a subcategory, or leave it as none.

  • Description - Add a brief description of your category. It is optional.

Step (3) - After filling in all the information about the category, click the Add New Category button.

Step (4) - After clicking Add New Category, the newly created category will be displayed on the right side of the page, as shown in the following screen shown.
